Our Credentials

What gives us the right to tell you what to do?

Absolutely nothing.  We are just gamers – granted gamers that have each been at it over 15 years – but just gamers.  None of the Thirdwalling crew are by any stretch of the imagination professionals.  This blog is not intended to be a professional guide to doing anything – but between us we have a range and list of experiences.  We are not famous child actors or outrageously attractive nerd girls.  But it is our arrogant opinion that our collective experiences grant us the unique privilege of offering our unsolicited and unprofessional opinions on the internet.

But before you start to think we are nothing more than your usual breed of internet trolls, look below at our gaming resumes and come to an informed decision that we are an unusual breed of internet

Drop Anchor – Mr. Thirdwaller Himself

Mine is by far the least impressive resume on this blog.  I rely on the rest of the Bad Batch to bring credit to my amblings.  I am a gamer – and an occasional one at that.  But I have been doing it for over 15 years.  Recently, I decided that I wanted to be a better game master and a better gamer, and I devoted a great deal of time into researching the matter.  The Thirdwalling site is the culmination of my research so far – and the center of my research going forward:

Game Master / Storyteller –

Player –

    • Star Wars: The Role Playing Game (West End Games)‡
    • Vampire: The Dark Ages (White Wolf)
    • Vampire: The Masquerade (White Wolf)
    • Hunter: The Reckoning
    • Exalted (White Wolf)
    • Advanced Dungeons and Dragons (2nd and 3rd Edition) (Wizards of the Coast)
    • Pathfinder Roleplaying Game (Palladium)
    • Deadlands (Pinnacle Entertainment Group)‡
    • The Dresden Files Role Playing Game (Evil Hat Productions)
    • Rhy’Din Realms (Yeah, that happened.)
    • Mutants and Masterminds (Green Ronin Publishing)
    • Marvel Super Heroes (TSR)
    • Various LARPs (Not something I would do again).

Additionally –

    •  Published Author – In addition to having a short story published in an anthology (remarkably easy to do, actually) I also had a research paper published by a prominent Journal in my professional field.

‡ indicates my favorite gaming systems.  I hate to openly endorse, but they’re just solid systems.

The Ginger – The redhead that stole 1,000 souls.

The Ginger claims she was tricked into the land of table top by an old crush in high school when they’d keep her up to all hours of the night talking about this weird “game” he played. It appealed to her creative nature, so a month later she was in her first D&D game – where she allegedly managed to prove the theory that if there is a way out of the situation a DM hasn’t planned for, she’ll find it.

Her gaming experience over the past 17 years includes:

  • Several MUDs – as both a player and a developer.
  • LARPS – She is wholly responsible for Drop Anchor’s participation in them, years ago.
  • D&D and AD&D
  • Vampire: The Masquerade
  • Star Wars: The Role Playing Game
  • Dresden Files RPG
  • The Chronicles of Amber
  • D6 Fantasy

She spend most of her time in character creation writing for them.  Some of her characters have over 200 pages of back story written in various medium and blogs.  She brings a creative side and a woman’s touch to the blog.

Leg Up – The Intellectual

With various academic qualifications in Philosophy, Language and Education, Leg Up is currently attending a very prestigious graduate school chasing a graduate degree in games in education.  If that doesn’t make him qualified, I do not know what does!

Leg Up introduced many of the Bad Batch – including myself and Drip Dry – to the world of online Multi-User Dungeons (MUDs) at a young age, starting us down the spiral that resulted in our current gaming.  His tabletop experience is somewhat limited to the games that Drip Dry and I have run when he’s been in the country (he’s a real globe trotter) but he continues to write and create as a developer for a text-based online Role Playing Game called Muddy Waters.  You should go play it.

He brings theater experience and academics to the table – analyzing the art and application of gaming and predicting the future of our past-time.

The Fez – Proud Gamer and Troper

He and Leg Up are primarily responsible for my introduction to Gaming many years ago.  The Fez has a degree in Game Design from a prominent technical university and he brings years of gaming experience and a technical eye to the blog.

He has experience with the following game systems:

  • Stars Wars: The Role Playing Game (West End Games)
  • D&D First Edition
  • AD&D (Second Edition)
  • D&D 3.5
  • Pathfinder
  • Vampire: The Masquerade
  • Werewolf: The Apocalypse
  • Hunter: The Reckoning
  • LARPs – NERO International & HITs
  • D6 Fantasy (West End Games)
  • Exalted – First Edition
  • Exalted – Second Edition
  • Dresden Files RPG
  • Numenera
